We’re excited to announce that Box intends to acquire SignRequest. We are looking forward to our next chapter and working together with Box to build the leading content cloud for the enterprise.


We founded SignRequest in 2014 with a mission to bring electronic signatures from an expensive high-end product, to a highly accessible product for everyone. Almost seven years later, we couldn’t be more proud of the progress we made. Today, we are trusted by over 500,000 users to be one of the most loved, intuitive and powerful e-signature technologies in the market.


Of course, we couldn’t have done this without the support of our customers. We would not be where we are today without your feedback, suggestions, and support. This next step in our journey will allow us to expand our reach while continuously improving on our e-signature solution.

The last year has shown us that we can effectively work virtually and that we don’t need to rely on in-person meetings to get business done. Today's landscape requires an easy way to access information from anywhere and collaborate with anyone. And this is what Box was built for. Box powers the way over 100,000 businesses around the world work, and has a complementary suite of collaboration, workflow, and security products that complement and extend our e-signature product.  Marrying our powerful and affordable e-signature solution with Box’s enterprise-grade content platform will make it easier than ever to complete digital transactions from anywhere.

What does this mean for you?

Nothing will change as of right now. SignRequest will continue to offer its services to all our customers and partners like we do today. With Box's powerful platform and innovative team behind us, you can expect faster and more innovation from us.


Looking ahead, adding e-signatures to its capabilities is a significant step for Box in building out the complete content cloud. With the help of SignRequest’s team and technology, Box will develop Box Sign, its e-signature capabilities that will be natively integrated into Box. Over the next year, SignRequest customers will have the option to switch their account to Box Sign and in doing so add the power of Box to their account.


Together, we'll enable customers to modernize the way they work and digitize important processes, while ensuring their agreements can be securely managed and governed in the Box content cloud.

Why was SignRequest acquired by Box?
We were chosen by Box to help them extend their offering in the e-sign space, based on our strategy, technology and architecture. Of all the companies reviewed to help Box accelerate growth in this space, we were the most built out, enterprise-facing, e-sign product. Also our salesforce connector and tech stack can enable us to bring our e-sign technology into Box quickly.Once we began talking to Box we realized they would be a top strategic partner because of their product, market and culture.Now we get to scale our vision of becoming one of the top electronic signature companies in the world by leveraging the Box brand and their installed base of over 100,000 customers.
What is the vision for the combined companies?
Adding e-signatures to its capabilities is a significant step for Box in building out the complete content cloud. With the help of SignRequest’s team and technology, Box will develop Box Sign, its e-signature capabilities that will be natively integrated into Box. Eventually, SignRequest users will get the option to migrate to Box Sign, gaining access to additional (security, compliance, document storage etc.) features from Box's offering.
What are the benefits of the acquisition for SignRequest customers?
SignRequest will continue to offer its services to all our customers. Thanks to the resources of Box, we can make our e-signing solution even better and develop the product faster.
As a SignRequest customer, can I access Box as a standalone platform?
In the short term, both SignRequest and Box will continue to operate as stand-alone platforms, but soon there will be benefits to having access to both. To celebrate and for you to get to know Box, we have a special offer to try Box - 90 days for free.
Will the (support) team change as a result of the acquisition?
To maintain minimal disruption, for current SignRequest customers, nothing will change as of right now. The founders will stay and SignRequest will continue to offer its services to all our customers. Expect the 9+ support level that you’re used to from the SignRequest team.
